This past Sunday was Jake's annual Blue and Gold event. It's the Big Fundraiser of the year where the dad's help the cub scouts bake and decorate a cake to match a certain theme and then they are auctioned off at the banquet that evening. This year's theme was The Wild, Wild West. My two guys baked a round cake and decorated it to look like a barrel cactus. It turned out so cute! We were all so proud. It was complete with dried pasta spines and everything! We finished out the presentation by putting it in a clay pot saucer and grinding up gingersnaps for the dirt. It just looked so cool! Well, apparently, we were the only ones who thought so. Of course, having someone else bake a towering 110 layer saguaro cactus cake didn't help! We didn't win any awards and unfortunately, half of our grandparent bidding team was out of town this year, but our cake went for $75 so that's good. We were the high bidders mind you, but at least we got our cake back and Jake gets to eat it. It was fun to be able to do it again this year.
