There's someone I'd like you to meet...

Well, here he is. The newest member of our family! Argus.

We have had such a great evening getting to know him a little. He's been such a gentleman so far and we are so pleased right now. We can even brag about him already. We got on the internet tonight and looked up his race stats and we've got a real winner on our hands. The math whiz that I married even figured out that at his top speed, he ran in excess of 37 miles per hour. His last race was in July of '07, so he's been off the track for a little while now, but he raced in a total of 137 races and won 15 of them. I'd say that makes him pretty worthy of a good retirement. His registered racing name is Viviana X., but his kennel name was Shebang. Well, we're just going to call him Argus. We got the name from "The Odyssey". In it, Odysseus's dog's name is Argus and we thought that was cool. So that's that.

You can tell Sammy is so grateful for some canine company. Finally! I know he misses Thunder. He even lets the stray cats in the neighborhood come onto the back patio and eat his food. How desperate! Now he has a pal to play with. After the initial greeting, he immediatly started nipping Argus's heels trying to get him to play and chase around. It was great to watch. And being that Sammy is almost 12 years old, just the fact that he is in so many ways just a puppy, he's so great!

Here he just saw himself in the mirror for the first time and thought he had just found his new best friend. It amazed me on the way home in the van and just watching him around the house to think that this is his first night out of the kennel. He's four years old and has never seen the inside of a house. Being a sighthound, he has been looking at everything. The ceiling fan scared the crap out of him!

Here he is meeting our cat, Little Bit. It went so well! Both of them were so good with each other! He still hasn't met Even Less (Evie). That meeting worries me! She's likely to thump him. But we'll see.

Anyway, he's here, and we're thrilled and we'll keep you updated on our progress. But so far so good. YEA!!!
