And driving car #7....

Today, Oct. 21st, we were able to tag along with Pop on an extremely thrilling "ride"! For his birthday, Grandma gave him driving lessons out at the PIR with the Bondurant school of driving. He learned how to drive a Formula Bondurant racing car and had three half hour sessions around the racetrack. It was so exciting to watch and I can only imagine how exciting it must have been to drive! He did such a great job, and I believe he may have been the fastest car on the track! Seriously! He was the first car out of the pit at the start of the 3rd session and he literally FLEW! The kids made signs for him that said "Go Pop!" and fully expected him to see them when they stood at the rail and held them up, but innocence is bliss. The rest of us knew however, that all Speed Racer was focused on at that moment was keeping the pedal to the metal. At any rate, it was fun just being where most fans will never get to be; down in the pits watching the race track from this incredibly unique vantage point. And having Pop in one of the cars made it all the better! It was a great day!
